National Provider Identifier

Now the National Provider Identifier (NPI) is required on all Medicare claims in the primary provider fields. As of May 23, 2008 claims will have to be sent with only the NPI.

Teacher Career Choices

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) has released Teacher Career Choices: Timing of Teacher Careers Among 1992-93 Bachelor’s Degree Recipients ( http://nces.ed.gov/pubs2008/2008153.pdf). This report finds that about 13 percent of bachelor’s degree recipients were teachers at some point in the decade after graduation, and analyzes those individual`s majors, demographic characteristics, and teaching experiences.
